Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are your simulators stand-alone units?
Yes, all of our simulators are turn-key solutions that are delivered with all the necessary hardware, software, and cabling to operate as a stand-alone full-task training device.
Do I need to be connected to the internet for the simulator to work?
No, all of our simulators operate without the internet. However, if you require remote support, you must provide an internet connection to the Instructor Operating Station computer via Ethernet or a wireless/cellular-based internet connection.
Can you make a custom cab for us?
Yes, we offer custom cabs. This will give you, the buyer, the ability to match the student training station cab with own vehicle fleet. These custom units are produced on a case-by-case basis; please contact us for more information.
How much does a simulator cost?
Each of our simulators varies in price, along with the options that are available to them. Please contact us to let us know which type of simulator you are interested in, and we can get you started with pricing information.

I’ve heard that some people don’t feel well when using a simulator. Is that true?
SAS (simulator adaptation syndrome) is indeed a possibility for about 10% of individuals. To significantly reduce this number, we have specific operating conditions for the simulator along with acclimation exercises aimed at easing a person into using the device without little-to-no issues. With the proper orientation, the incidence rate becomes even lower at 3-5%. This group of people is reduced to an even smaller percentage through repeated exposure to the simulator in small segments of time.
How quickly will I get my simulator after I place an order?
Depending on the simulator and how customized you’d like it, our lead time will vary from 90 days to 150+ days. As you begin to identify what solution best fits your application, we’ll be able to give you a more exact idea of the delivery timeline. Please contact us to get the process started.
Can I buy just your software? I already have hardware.
We only provide turn-key solutions, so hardware and software are combined. We cannot guarantee our software would work as intended with your existing hardware. Our software is developed in-house to work with the parameters of the hardware we offer.
Our simulator has stopped working/has an issue, who do I contact for help?

Where can I get training on being a bus operator/train conductor/firefighter?
Thank you for your interest in receiving training! However, FAAC only builds and sells turnkey training simulators; we do not provide training courses or certifications for these occupations. We do train our customers on how to use the simulators they purchase through us. For orders that are custom, we have a group of subject matter specialists that visit these locations and provide training on these simulators.
Do you offer grant writing support?
We are more than happy to recommend grants that customers in a similar industry have leveraged to purchase our products and point you in the direction of several trusted grant database sites. Ultimately, what grants your specific department/organization is eligible for will have to be answered by you. Still, we are here to provide all the information you need to make the grant-writing process as easy as possible for you.
