Keep Training Current with MILO Studios

In an ever-evolving world, staying ahead of emerging challenges is essential for law enforcement and public safety agencies. MILO Studios recognizes the importance of keeping training relevant and up-to-date, which is why we consistently release new, immersive, high-definition (HD) video training scenarios for your projection-based simulators. These scenarios are specifically designed to help agencies adapt their training programs to meet current trends, address new threats, and incorporate evolving best practices. By staying on the cutting edge, our team of professionals at MILO Studios ensures that your team is always equipped with the most effective, realistic training tools available.

In addition to our talented crew of filmmakers and editors, MILO Studios is supported by an advisory board composed of law enforcement leaders, academic researchers, legal compliance and use-of-force experts, police training subject matter experts (SMEs), and instructional designers. This advisory board plays a pivotal role in driving the content of new scenarios, drawing from the real-world experiences of security professionals and responders and high-level awareness of global and local threats. They collaborate with MILO’s Cognitive Division to ensure training scenarios address current needs and emerging topics, such as trauma-informed care or unarmed crisis response teams. The board also contributes insights from scientific research in human performance, sociology, neuroscience, and criminal justice to integrate evidence-based practices into every scenario.

MILO Studios continually expands its extensive library of training scenarios to keep your team ready for evolving challenges. As part of our commitment to providing law enforcement professionals with the best training available—and in line with our “Customer for Life” philosophy—each new scenario package is released free of charge to existing MILO simulator customers. We are dedicated to being your long-term partner in training excellence, consistently enhancing your simulation library with the most current and impactful content. No matter where you’re training around the world, our support team is available 24/7 to assist with any updates.

MILO Film Crew

Make Training Locally Relevant with MILO  Studios

No two communities have the same needs, and that’s why MILO Range Studios also creates custom training scenarios to reflect the unique challenges and environments where your officers operate. We understand that effective training in complex settings often requires more than off-the-shelf solutions—it demands scenarios tailored to the specific situations your team encounters on a daily basis, and the ones you hope they never have to experience. By collaborating closely with content subject matter experts, trainers, and community stakeholders, we ensure that each scenario we develop is not only realistic and follows appropriate protocol but also directly relevant to your high-stakes training needs. Whether it’s filming in familiar local settings or addressing specific training objectives, MILO Studios delivers immersive HD, high-impact training experiences designed to enhance preparedness and effectiveness in the field.

Developing a realistic and impactful training scenario can feel overwhelming, especially when striving for authenticity and accuracy. It’s not just about scripting a situation—it’s about capturing the nuances of real-life interactions, which requires the involvement of subject matter experts who truly understand the complexities of the scenarios being portrayed. Whether it’s de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention, or tactical responses, having professionals guide the process ensures that your scenarios are not only realistic but also highly relevant to your specific training objectives.

Our in-house scenario design and creation team at MILO Studios can handle it all and take the burden off your team so they can do what they do best. Working with your stakeholders, we write the scripts, hire the actors, film the production with top-of-the-line equipment, fine-tune in post-production editing, program integrated hit zones and force option branching, and install the scenarios on your system. You define the need, and we deliver a turnkey solution through our proven process:

Identify Objectives: Our scenario design begins with foundations of learning theory by helping organizations clearly articulate their learning objectives as opposed to simply stating a contextual situation for scenario-building. Questions such as “What are your training objectives and hopeful outcomes?” “Where do your officers need to improve, and what can we add that will help them grow from novice to expert?” and “Are teams or adjacent responders involved in this training?” draw out complexities that need to be included for optimal results.

Script and Storyboarding: Our experienced production team is ready to transform your expertise and vision into professional scripts, covering every aspect, from actors to dispatch and bystanders. We collaborate closely with your trainers and subject-matter experts, along with our internal resources and advisory board, to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout. This approach helps prevent any gaps or oversights, ensuring the content remains accessible and free from the “curse of knowledge.”

Film Production: Our team is mobile and deployable to your location for maximum realism and local relevance. We hire local actors to represent your diverse community demographics, scout and secure set locations, and handle all production logistics. If you have actors or locations you’d like to use, we will work with them. Of course, we encourage organizations to have their preferred consulting SMEs on set as we film.

Editing and Course Design: Back at MILO Studios in Ann Arbor, Michigan, our post-production team meticulously crafts hours of footage into polished, professional content. We edit clips, synchronize audio, and enhance scenes with sound effects and computer-generated imagery (CGI) overlays. Using our proprietary Course Designer software, we then structure the scenes into instructor-controlled branches and “hit zones” for immersive, accurate, interactive training scenarios for multiple outcomes.
