MILO Range Live Fire Training Simulator Course
This course is designed to prepare instructors to deliver effective scenario-based training using the MILO Range Live Fire training simulator or any MILO Range system. Participants will be exposed to a variety of techniques, tactics, teaching methodologies, and technical knowledge essential for developing the skills required to excel in their roles. The class will cover how to implement proper safety protocols, maximize learning and skill development with MILO simulators, and conduct effective debriefings to enhance participant retention of training material. Scenarios and drills will reinforce skills in the areas of coaching, debriefing, training safety, accurate shot placement, multiple threats, decision-making, shooting while moving, identifying threats, lowlight environments, use of cover, malfunction clearing, firing from unconventional positions, and use of verbal commands. Through hands-on practice and guided debriefs, students will:
– Facilitate post-scenario debriefs using structured templates
– Operate the MILO Simulators for use-of-force, crisis management, de-escalation, and tactical judgment
– Apply federal and state laws, including Graham v. Connor, case law, and department policies during debriefs
– Develop scenario branching techniques based on participant performance and learning objectives
– Analyze officer-threat factors, pre-assault indicators, and decision-making processes
– Engage participants through multiple learning systems—emotional, cognitive, experiential, and behavioral
– Restore participants to a composed state post-scenario
– Select appropriate scenarios based on training goals and participant experience
– Follow and apply all safety standards to ensure a secure training environment
– Apply marksmanship skills in compressed timeframes
– Transition between targets while maintaining accuracy
– Demonstrate accuracy while moving
